Jóhanna Jónsdóttir was born in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) on May 2, 1849. She died in Spanish Fork, Utah on March 16, 1916. She took the name Hannah Valgardson in Spanish Fork.
Spouse: 1) November 5, 1871 Guðmundur Guðmundsson b. November 22, 1847, d. February 10, 1890 2) January 10, 1894 Pétur Valgarðsson b. December 31, 1842, d. October 14, 1918.
Children: With Guðmundur, Jóhanna had 7 children, one lived and went west: Margrét Jónína b. April 5, 1874, d. November 20, 1891 in Spanish Fork. With Pétur: 1. John Peter b. January 22, 1895, d. 1969 in Taber, Alberta, Canada.
Jóhanna was a widow when she emigrated to Spanish Fork, Utah with her daughter Margrét in 1891. She lived there the first year, then moved with Pétur to Taber, Alberta in Canada where they lived until 1910. They later moved back to Spanish Fork.
