Jóhannes Jónsson was born in Hvítársíða in Mýrasýsla on August 16, 1883. He died on August 23, 1965.
Unmarried and childless.
He came west across the ocean with his parents, Jón Jónsson and Sigurbjörg Steingrímsdóttir, in 1898. They lived in Winnipeg the first years, but Jóhannes later moved to the Hnausa Settlement where he lived a long time. He was usually called Little Joe in the community.
