Jóhannes Sigurðsson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla October 11, 1839. He died in Ballard, Washington on March 30, 1910.
Spouse: 1) 1864 Guðrún Jónasdóttir b. October 27, 1837 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla, d. in N. Dakota after 1880. 2) Guðbjörg Gísladóttir b. in Húnavatnssýsla July 10, 1847, d. in Washington State in 1930.
Children: With Guðrún: 1. Pétur b. 1865, d. 1867 2. Gunnlaugur b. 1866 3. Petrea b. 1867 4. Pétur b. 1869 5. Pálmi b. 1871, d. 1872 6. Pálína b. 1873, d. probably en route to New Iceland 7. Karl b. 1878 d. in Seattle in 1902. Except Pétur, all their children died prior to 1930.
They emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1874 and settled in the Icelandic River Settlement in 1876. In the spring of 1881 they moved south to N. Dakota where they lived until 1889 when they moved west to Seattle. They struggled through the fire which destroyed so much of the city. They moved to Ballard in 1896.
