Jón Ásgrímur Jóhannsson was born in the Argyle Settlement in Manitoba in 1885. He died in Saskatchewan on March 7, 1935. He had the last name Reykdal in the west.

Jón grew up in the town of Argyle but moved in 1912, along with his father, to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and bought the land of Hermann Ísfeld in the Kandahar/Dafoe area. He then took more land in the same settlement. Jónína came west with her parents in 1900 and lived in the Argyle Settlement close to ten years. Life’s road then led them to Silver Bay in the Siglunes Settlement to the northwest of Lake Manitoba.
