Jón Ásgeirsson was born on May 18, 1884 in Húnavatnssýsla. He died in Winnipeg on July 6, 1957.

They came to the West in 1913 and settled in Winnipeg. Jón first worked there painting houses and wallpapering, but later in a store with his sons. Oddný took an active part in the social affairs of her countrymen in the city and worked for a long time in the women’s association of Sambandsafnanar and was its president for three years there.
