They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and moved on to New Iceland the same year. They journeyed to N. Dakota in 1881. They moved to the Lakes settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1906 and took land in the Wynyard community. Jón’s sons took the name Víum or Weum in the west.
