Jón Björnsson was born on August 24, 1843 in Strandasýsla. He died in Spanish Fork on April 13, 1909. He took the name John Bjornson in the west.
Spouse: Auðrósa Eyjólfsdóttir was born on May 2, 1857 in Húnavatnssýsla. She died in Spanish Fork on March 22, 1941. She took the name Rosa Jameson in Spanish Fork.

Auðrósa and Jón emigrated west with her parents and siblings in 1883. They first lived in Helena, Montana, but moved to Spanish Fork in 1885 and lived there. The story goes that one reason was the hope that the prayers of the Mormon bishops could improve Auðrósa’s vision, as she was almost blind when she went west.
