Jón came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1891 went to Pembina, N. Dakota where his parents and siblings lived. In 1896, they all moved north to the Bluff Peninsula west of Lake Manitoba. They then moved to the Narrows and lived on Red Deer Island for four years. From there, the road took them south to the Big Point community in 1902. Jón left there in 1909 and settled in Westbourne where he stayed for two years. His next move was to Lundar, where he lived the longest. The couple later moved to Winnipeg.
