Jón came west in 1893 settled straight-away in the Argyle Settlement. He first worked for farmers in the area before buying his own land and building up his farm near Baldur. He lived there the rest of his life. Sigurborg came west with her parents in 1878, Sigfús Pétursson and Guðrún Þóra Sveinsdóttir.
