Jón Magnússon Nordal
Jón Magnússon was born in Mýrasýsla on September 20, 1842. He died in Manitoba on May 2, 1928. He took the last name Nordal in the west.
Spouse: 1) Sigríður Þorvaldsdóttir born at Akranes in 1842 2) Steinunn Jóhannsdóttir born in Húnavatnssýsla on October 8, 1867.
Children: With Sigríður: 1) Ingibjörg b. 1867 2) Guðrún b. 1870 d. August 15, 1927 3) Þórdís b. 1872 4) Agnes b. 1876 5) Magnús b. November 1, 1878 in Mikley, d. July 29, 1935. With Steinunn: 1) Sigurjón 2) Þórdís Emily. Steinunn also had a daughter, Ósk Sigurbjörg Bjarnadóttur b. 1893.
Jon came west with his family to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and settled in Mikley, New Iceland. He moved from there to Winnipeg in 1880 and to the Argyle Settlement in 1883. He called his farm Mýri and was southwest of the Cypress River. He moved from there to Glenboro in 1906.
