They came west from Mýri in Bárðardal in 1889 to Winnipeg, Manitoba. From there they continued to the Þingvalla Settlement west of Manitoba where they took land and lived on it. Jón moved with his son Steingrímur to Kildonan north of Winnipeg in 1893.
