Jón Þorbergsson was born in Reykjavík on September 21, 1889.
Spouse: December 16, 1909 Elísabet Stefánsdóttir b. October 5, 1891 in S. Múlasýsla, d. April 7, 1989 in Los Angeles.
Children: 1. Helen Iðunn b. February 8, 1911, d. October 29, 1996 2. Ragnhildur Bergþóra b. April 23, 1914, d. January 5, 1984 3. Olive Jonina Elizabet b. August 22, 1915, d. April 25, 2003.
Jón came to the West, probably in 1904 with his father, Þorbergur Eiríksson, and grandfather, Eiríkur Sigurðsson. They no doubt went to Manitoba and from there on to New Iceland because Eiríkur, Þorbergur’s brother, went there in 1890. Elísabet came west in 1903 with her mother, Ragnhildur Sveinsdóttir, and Ragnhildur’s second husband, Gunnlaugur Jóhannsson. Jón and Þorbergur moved west to the Pacific Ocean and settled in Manchester, Washington. Jón and Elísabet moved to Los Angeles in 1941.
