Jónas Jónsson was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1872. He died the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in 1956. He took the name Jonas Johnson in the west.
Spouse: Helga Gunnlaugsdóttir b. 1869, d. 1855. She was the sister of Vilborg, wife of Halldór Jónsson.
Children: 1. Björn b. 1898 2. Friðbergur Jón b. 1901 3. Gunnlaugur Magnús 4. Vilborg Þórunn Anna 5. Jóhannes.
They emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1902. They first lived in N. Dakota but then took land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1906.
