Spouse: October 14, 1926 Haraldur Kristinsson b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on September 25, 1885. He took the last name Freeman in the west.

Jónína came west with her parents, Björn Sigurðsson and Guðrún Hallgrímsdóttir, early settlers in Glenboro, Manitoba in 1903. Haraldur came west to Manitoba in 1905 and was a fisherman on Lake Manitoba for the first years. He took land in the Siglunes settlement in 1911 and lived there until 1919 with his brother Sigurður. He then moved west to Saskatchewan and worked as a fisherman on Dore Lake near Prince Albert. After some time, he left there and moved back to Manitoba and began farming near Glenboro.
