Jósef and Kristín came west on the same ship, the St. Patrick, in 1874. They lived in Kinmount, Ontario the first winter and together went to New Iceland in the fall of 1875. They lived there several years before moving to Hallson, N. Dakota in 1880. They lived there until 1901 when they moved to the Geysir Settlement in New Iceland.
