Klemens Guðmundsson was born in Húnavatnssýsla on August 12, 1860. He died in Selkirk, Manitoba on October 6, 1946. He took the name Klemens G. Jónasson in the west.
Spouse: Ósk Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir b. 1857 in Barðastrandarsýsla.

Klemens and Ingibjörg came to the West in 1886. Guðmundur’s grandfather, Einar, a merchant in Reykjavík, was the son of Jónas Jónsson of Gil in Svartárdalur. Klemens took his father’s name. In Saga Íslendinga í Vesturheimi IV it is said about Klemens on page 453: “Klemens Jónasson lived in Selkirk until he was very old and died. He was one of the most influential leaders in Selkirk in his time, both in church work and other Icelandic organizations. He had a burning interest and diligence, was particularly well-spoken and knowledgeable.”
