Kristín Anna emigrated to Manitoba with her parents, Daníel Sigurðsson og Kristjana Jörundsdóttir in 1894. Sigurður emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his mother, Úlfhildur Sigurðardóttir and brothers Halldór and Ingvari in 1885. First he went west to Þingvalla Settlement in Saskatchewan and homesteaded near Churchbridge. He moved to another lot west of Yorkton but due to dry summers he gave up and moved to Lundar Settlement in Manitoba in 1894.
