Kristín Jónasdóttir was born at Hrísey in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on November 13, 1881. She died in Lundar, Manitoba on October 28, 1969.

Jóhann came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 with his parents and siblings. He moved on with them to the Lundar Settlement and lived there the rest of his life. Kristín came west with her mother, Móníka Guðmundsdóttir, in 1888. Jóhann started a retail business in Lundar and later moved it to Oak Point, where his business grew incredibly. However, that did not prevent Kristin, now a widow, from having to work for herself to keep the household. She worked in net making, patchwork, mending hunters’ clothing and much more. When she died, she had 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
