Kristín Símonardóttir was born in Húnavatnssysla in 1842.
Unmarried and childless.
In 1890 she was a housekeeper at Kollafoss in Húnavatnssýsla and where Jón Guðmundsson was the head of the house, a new widower. They moved west to Manitoba in 1901 and settled in the Geysir Settlement on land called Oddi. Kristín was Jón’s maid until he died in 1921. Then she moved to Tjörn in the settlement, where her brother Sigvaldi lived.
