Kristín, the daughter of Þorsteinn Vilhjámsson, came west in 1878 with her foster mother and aunt, Guðfinna Vilhjálmsdóttir, and her family. They settled in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, where Kristín met Eyjólfur. She and her second husband lived in Pine River, Cass County, Minnesota and was there in 1930, as were her sons Þorsteinn and Svanur.
