Kristinn emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his widowed mother, Anna Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, and his siblings. They settled near Icelandic River. Kristinn moved to N. Dakota about 1880 and from there to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1885. Sesselja emigrated west to Utah in 1886 with her foster father, Bjarni Bjarnason.
