Þorsteinn Kristinn Þorsteinsson was born in Reykjavík in 1889. He took the name Kristinn Þorsteinsson Oliver in the west.

Spouse: Guttormína Kristín Stefánsdóttir b. in N. Múlasýsla in 1891.

Kristinn came west in 1902 with his parents Þorsteinn Þorsteinsson and Vilborg Jónsdóttir. They first lived in Westbourne, Manitoba, later in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and lastly in 1915 at Red Deer Point, Manitoba.  Kristinn took land there and lived there a few years land and worked in agriculture and in fishing. He sold his land and settled in Winnipegosis, Manitoba where he got married.  The couple moved to Winnipeg where Kristinn worked as a carpenter. Guttormína came west in 1903 with her mother Guðný Guðmundsdóttir; her sister Ingiríður had come west a year earlier and married Þorsteinn, Kristinn’s father, in Winnipegosis.
