Kristján Benediktsson was born at Hóli at Tjörnes in N. Þingeyjarsýsla on August 14, 1867. He died in Manitoba on January 24, 1934.
Unmarried and childless.
He came west in 1879 with his mother Helga Gísladóttir and lived the first years in Winnipeg but then moved to New Iceland. Kristján moved back to Winnipeg and got a job with Alexander McDonald, who later became mayor of Winnipeg. In 1886 he moved with his mother and stepfather to Argyle and working in shops in various places, the furthest in Baldur. In 1930 he moved with his mother to Winnipeg where he lived until his death.
