Lárus Bjarnason was born in Dalasýsla on December 26, 1848. He died on June 17, 1918 in Nebraska. Barnason in the west.

Lárus sailed west across the ocean with his brother Torfi in 1873. They first lived in Wisconsin but headed west and settled south of Lincoln, Nebraska. Torfi bought land there but Lárus worked for the farmers. In the autumn, Torfi returned to Iceland but Lárus continued to work for farmers until 1879, when he bought land close to the village of Firth and lived there.
In the summer of 2018, I, Jónas Þór, and my western friends went on the trail to Nebraska of the brothers from Ólafsdalur, Aðalbjartur, Lárus and Torfi when these color photos were taken.
