Leifur Eiríksson was born in Carberry, Manitoba on May 21, 1893. He died in Vancouver on April 13. 1954. He had the name Leifur E. Summers in the west.
Spouse: October 9, 1915 Sigurlaug Lilja Björnsdóttir b. 1889 in New Iceland. She was known as Lil Summers with marriage.

Leifur was the son of Eirík Sumarliðason and Þorbjörg Jónsdóttir while Sigurlaug’s parents were Björn Árnason and Björg Sigríður Jónsdóttir. Leifur joined the Eaton´s chain in Winnipeg in 1910 and left in 1950. He started farming in Teulon, Manitoba for three years and from there the couple moved west to Vancouver. Leifur was an extremely proud Icelander for all his life, had a good command of Icelandic and told one of his friends in Vancouver that he would always say Lord´s Prayer (Faðir vorið) in Icelandic. Sigurlaug survived her husband.
