Lilja Jensdóttir was born in Strathclair, Manitoba in 1891. She died in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan on April 17, 1912. She had the last name Laxdal in the west.

Lilja was the daughter of Jens Egilsson and Guðfríður Guðmundsdóttir, who came west in 1888 of Dalasýsla with their two children, Egill and Margrét. Dalamenn III says Lilja was born on November 30, 1885, but her niece and namesake, Lila Egilsdóttir (Lily Hildebrand) daughter of Egil Jensson, says in the settlement history of Vatnabyggð, Reflections by the Quills, that Lilja was born in 1891 and her family lived in Manitoba. She says rightly that Jens and Guðfríður had come west in 1888 with Egill and Margrét. The same is said in Vesturfaraskrá p. 180. Lilja lived with her parents and died at their home, a short distance from Dafoe in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð).
