Magnús Pétursson was born in Húnavatnssýsla on September 2, 1869. He died in Winnipeg on June 5, 1945.
Spouse: Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir, likely from east Iceland.
Children: Information is missing.
Sources from the west (SÍV5 p. 303-304 and the Almanak 1946) say that Magnus emigrated west in 1890. In the census, he is listed in Iceland as a tenant at Laugavegur 15 that year. It may well be that he moved west late in the year, but went straight to Winnipeg and got an immediate job in printing, a trade he had learned in Iceland. He was involved in founding the paper Öldin with Jón Ólafsson and, when that magazine merged with Heimskringla, he worked on that. He worked in the printing business in Winnipeg all the time.
