Magnússína Sigurrós Pálsdóttir was born in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnbyggð). She died in 1964. She was known as Rosa in the west.

Guðmundur came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 with his mother, Halldóra Þórðardóttir, and sisters. Halldóra died a year later and Guðmundur moved to the home of Tryggvi Friðriksson, pioneer settler in the Argyle Settlement. He moved with Tryggvi’s family north to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1906. Guðmundur took land in the Wynyard area, but later sold it and moved to the village of Wynyard. Magnúsína was the daughter of Páll Jónsson and Snjólaug Jóhannsdóttir, who lived in Kandahar in the Lakes Settlement.
