Margrét came west to Ontario with her parents, Friðbjörn Björnsson and Anna S. Árnadóttir, in 1873. They moved to New Iceland and then in 1881 south to Mountain, N. Dakota. Halldór came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 with his parents and siblings. He lived with them in New Iceland until 1880 and moved with them south to the Thingvalla Settlement in N. Dakota in 1880. Halldór was a shopkeeper in Mountain for many years, but in 1930 he moved to Chicago and lived there the rest of his days.
