Margrét Steinunn Þorláksdóttir was born on October 5, 1872 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla.

Spouse: Lúðvík Hermann Jón Sigurðsson b. 1867 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He took the last name Laxdal in the west.

Children: 1. Árni Björn b. May 5, 1899 in Winnipeg 2. Eggert Albert Sigurður b. July 24, 1906 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan 3. Þorlákur Lúðvík Guðbrandur b. January 17, 1913 in Kandahar, Saskatchewan.

Lúðvík came west alone to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887.  In 1904, he moved to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and took land west of Foam Lake. He sold it in 1910, moved to the village of Kandahar and bought a lumber yard with Ingvar Ólafsson. He sold his share in 1913 and worked in construction until 1918. He moved west to the Pacific and settled in Milwaukie, Oregon in January, 1919. Margrét was a year old when she came west to Kinmount, Ontario with her parents, Þorlákur Björnsson and Þórdís Árnadóttir, in 1874. A year later, they moved to New Iceland and in 1881 to Mountain, N. Dakota.
