María was a widow after Guðmundur passed away. Magnús came west in 1887 and took land in Hallson, N. Dakota. María came west a year later with Eyjólfur and Jón Guðmundur. They first lived in Hallson, N. Dakota. They moved from there to Rosseau, Minnesota and lived there five years. Next, life’s road took them to the Pine Valley Settlement in Manitoba. Magnús took land there and they lived there 16 years, sold the land, and moved to the village of Piney. María passed away there and Magnús moved west to the state of Washington and lived with his son Jón Guðmundur.
