Ólafur Jónsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on April 25, 1869. He died in Lyon County in Minnesota on November 1, 1940. He took the name Olafur Rafnson in the west.
Spouse: June 14, 1899 Sigurjóna Eyjólfsdóttir b. in N. Múlasýsla on July 1, 1878, d. October 20, 1981. She took the name Sarah Snidal in the west.

Ólafur came west to Minnesota in 1889 with his parents, Jón Rafnsson and Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir. They settled in Lyon County and there Ólafur was a farmer. Sigurjóna came west in 1880 with her parents, Eyjólfur Guðmundsson and Kristín Björnsdóttir.
