Ólafur Tryggvi Sigurjónsson was born in Eyjafjörður in 1893. He took the last name Thordarson in his Western Home. He died in California in 1965.
Unmarried and childless.
He was just a few months old when he came with his parents, Sigurjón Þórðarson and Anna Jónsdóttir, west to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family settled in the Geysir settlement. Ólafur grew up there doing daily farm work, after 1910 he and his father got regular work fishing on Lake Winnipeg. They must have gone together before the lake froze in the fall and then went fishing until mid-winter. It is not clear when Ólafur moved west to the Pacific Ocean, he lived for several years at Point Roberts, Washington, but due to ill health he moved south to California.
