Ólína Björg Briet Ólafsdóttir was born in Húnavatnssýsla on October 27, 1872. She died on November 25, 1965.

Ólína came to Winnipeg in 1883 with her parents, Ólafur Guðmundsson and Margrét Ólafsdóttir. Sigurður came west in 1882 to Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his mother, Þórunn Björnsdóttir. Sigurður bought and sold cattle in Selkirk. He was elected to the town council, the first Icelander. Kristján came west in 1887 with his wife, Sigríður Guðbjartsdóttir, and two sons. Sigríður died in 1902 in Selkirk.
