Egill and Ólína came west in 1876 on the same ship, he was 19 years of age, she was 10. She moved to New Iceland with her parents and siblings, but later moved to N. Dakota. Egill married Ólína there and they lived in Hallson, N. Dakota. Egill died in 1886 and Ólína married Sigurður Andrésson and he raised her children as his own. They all took the last name Anderson after that. They moved east to the Roseau Settlement Minnesota and then north to the Pine Valley Settlement in Manitoba where they lived until 1918. Then they moved back to Hallson.
