Ólöf Níelsdóttir was born in S. Múlasýsla in 1847. She died in Árborg, Manitoba in 1946.

They came west to New Iceland in 1876 and took land in the Víðirnes Settlement just west of Gimli and named it Nýjabæ. They lived there four years, but then moved to Winnipeg and lived there the next nine years. The path then led them to the Grunnavatn Settlement where they lived for one year, before moving to the Argyle Settlement. They moved from there in 1900 to the Vallar Settlement in Saskatchewan.
