Orville Theodore Clinton Bernhöft was born in the Akra settlement in N. Dakota on November 27, 1918.
Spouse: January 9, 1941 Guðbjörg María Frímannsdóttir b. April 14, 1922.
Children: 1. Diane Celeste b. May 27, 1945 2. Wayne b. February 24, 1949.
Orville pursued an educational path, completing elementary school in Hensel, N. Dakota, and a commercial school in Grand Forks. He moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked in a store. He returned home to N. Dakota and became a farmer just east of Mountain. Orville was the son of Edward L A Bernhöft and Sigurbjörg S. Ólafsdóttir in N. Dakota. Guðbjörg’s parents were Matúsalem Einarsson and Ingibjörg Kristjánsdóttir, early settlers in the Víkur settlement in N. Dakota in 1883.
