Pétur Pálsson was born August 29, 1844 at Ánastaðir in Loðmundarfjörður in Norður-Múlasýsla. Died December 2, 1924 in Framnes Settlement.

Pétur emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 and onwards to New Iceland. He settled in the Hnausa Settlement and lived there until 1882 when he moved to Gimli. After 1o years he moved to the Argyle Settlement where he bought some land south of Glenboro but also homesteaded in the Hóla Settlement to where he moved in 1893. He lived there until 1909 when, due to Gudlaug’s poor health, he quit farming. She also emigrated west in 1876 along with Jón Sigurðsson, father of her son Guðjón. One source in Canada maintains she had another son before her marriage to Pétur. His name was Jón M. Johnson and his wife Kristín Jónsdóttir (Arnason), daughter of Jóns Júlíusar. They lived in Prince Rubert, British Columbia.
