Pétur Pétursson was born on November 1, 1841 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. He died in Foam Lake in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð), Saskatchewan on June 19, 1917.

Pétur came west alone to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1900 and moved to be with his daughter Sigríður at Big Point. He lived with her and her husband, Bjarni Davíðsson, but in 1906, they moved north to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan and settled in Foam Lake. Pétur lived with them there as well.
