Pétur Sigurðsson was born in Dalasýsla on June 7, 1863. He died on September 15, 1940. He took the last name Jacobson in the west.
Spouse: 1) Guðrún Þorkelsdóttir Scheving b. in S. Múlasýsla in 1861, d. 1888 in N. Dakota. 2) Anna Eiríksdóttir b. February 26, 1868 in S. Múlasýsla, d. July 10, 1944.

Pétur came west with his parents, Sigurður Jakobsson and Sigríður Teitsdóttir, to Ontario, Canada in 1873 and lived with them in Collingwood out by Georgian Bay. From there they moved to New Iceland in 1875 and lived there until 1879 when they moved to N. Dakota. Pétur moved to the Big Point Settlement in 1895 and lived there four years, but then took land in the Big Grass Settlement and lived there until 1911. He then returned to Big Point. Guðrún came west in 1876 with her mother Ólöf Einarsdóttir and stepfather Einar Bjarnason. Anna came west in 1886 with her mother Ingibjörg Einarsdóttir and stepfather Þorsteinn Jónsson and family.
