Rafnkell Eiríksson was born in E. Skaftafellssýsla on October 10, 1879. He died in Manitoba on August 27, 1972. He was known as Kjel Eirikson in the west.
Spouse: 1910 Halldóra Sveinsdóttir b. August 4, 1881, d. August 6, 1939.
Children: 1. Geiri Ragnar b. September 6, 1911 2. Steinunn b. April 23, 1913 3. Sveinbjörg (Sveina) Þorgerður b. April 16, 1914 4. Eiríkur Thor b. August 6, 1916 5. Gilbertina Rakel b. April 9, 1918.
Rafnkell came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents Eiríkur Rafnkelsson and Steinunn Jónsdóttir and siblings in 1889 and settled in Mikley. Two years later, Eiríkur took land in the Ísafold settlement and named it Flugustaðir. Rafnkell grew up there until 1903 when most of the inhabitants of the Ísafold settlement fled due to floods in Lake Winnipeg. The family moved to the Lundar settlement. Halldóra came west to Manitoba in 1903 with her mother, Gróa Magnúsdóttir and her sister, Steinunn.
