Jón came west in 1893 and settled in Winnipeg and Ragnheiður also arrived there in 1893. They moved onto land in the Framnes Settlement in 1901. They lived there until 1912, moved home to Iceland in 1913 but did not find success and moved a year later back to Canada. They lived in Winnipeg until 1924. They then moved to Winnipegosis and from there west to Steveston, British Columbia in 1942.
