Ragnhildur Sveinsdóttir was born on December 25, 1857 in S. Múlasýsla. She died in San Diego on December 25, 1934.

Ragnhildur and Gunnlaugur came west with their three children in 1903. They were also accompanied by Ósk and Elísabet, daughters of Ragnhildur and Stefán. They were first in Manitoba but then went west to the Pacific Ocean where they settled in Washington. They lived there for several years before moving to San Diego, California.
