Rannveig Ólafsdóttir was born on August 2, 1853 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla. She died on August 7, 1916 in Winnipeg.
Spouse: June 15, 1876 Sigtryggur Jónasson b. in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on February 8, 1852, d. November 27, 1942 in Arborg, Manitoba.
Children: 1. Foster son Percy Chaloner b. May 21, 1880, he had a Scottish father and an English mother. He spoke perfect Icelandic. 2. Rannveig (Rose) Taylor b. September 25, 1877, the daughter of Kristmundur Benjamínsson and Sigurlaugur Björnsdóttir. She was fostered by John Taylor and his wife Elizabeth. She was at Sigtryggur’s home one winter but later moved with her mother to Toronto. 3. Matthías Einarsson b. 1887, son of Einar Hjörleifsson and Matthilde Petersen. He died at a few months of age.
Sigtryggur moved west in 1872 and settled in Ontario. He went to New Iceland in 1875 and settled by Íslendingafljót (Icelandic River) and named his land Möðruvellir. Rannveig moved west to New Iceland in 1876. She moved to Winnipeg in 1881 and from there to Selkirk a year later. She returned to Winnipeg in 1887 and lived there for several years.
They took land in the Framnes Settlement in 1912 and named the farm Grashagi.
