Guðrún Rósamunda Gunnarsdóttir (Rósa) was born on February 4, 1889 in Skagafjarðarsýsla. She died in 1962 in Riverton, Manitoba.

Rósa was the daughter of Gunnar Guðmundsson, pioneer settler in the Framnes Settlement who came west with his family in 1900. Jón came west with his parents in 1878 and grew up in Mikley. He moved with his mother to Keewatin, Ontario after his father’s death in 1897 and after some years, he took land in the Árdals Settlement in 1902. Jón and Rósa lived there until 1914, moved out to Mikley, and after some time, moved back to the Árdals Settlement. Following that, they moved to Selkirk, then to Keewatin, and lastly to Riverton in 1932.
