They emigrated west to Canada travelling with Jón’s mother, Kristín Jóhannesdóttir. Jón and Salnía moved south to Marshall in Lyon County, Minnesota. Life’s road led them to Minneapolis where Jón is listed as a house painter in the 1900 Census. They later moved west to Spokane, Washington.
