Salóme Ólafsdóttir was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1885. She died in Morden, Manitoba in 1976.

Salóme came west in 1887 with his parents, Ólafur Árnason and Ragnheiður Ósk Sigurðardóttir. They settled in N. Dakota and lived there until 1899. They then moved to the Brown Settlement in Manitoba. Salóme worked there as a cook for farmers and later in a hotel in Morden. Jón Ragnar came with his grandfather Sigfús Gíslason and his grandmother Rannveigur Árnadóttir from the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota to the Brown Settlement in 1899. Jón worked there with his grandfather and his sons on a farm. Salóme and Jón lived on their own land until 1962, then moved to Morden.
