Ásta Salvör moved west to Manitoba in 1888. Magnús came west in 1883 and worked in various locations in Manitoba, mostly railroad work. Moved west to Calgary in 1890, married that year and then took land in the Alberta settlement near Burnt Lake a year later. It did not turn out well, he returned it and moved next west to the Medicine River where he once lived. In 1898 he took land west of the river and lived there until 1907, sold it and moved north to the town of Ponoka. Worked as a railroad worker after that.
