Sesselja Halldórsdóttir was born on October 30, 1913 in Westbourne, Manitoba.

Sesselja was the daughter of Halldór Halldórsson of Húnavatnssýsla and his wife, Margrét Þórhildur Hávarðsdóttir. Davíð was the son of Eggert Sigurgeirsson and Svanhildur Sigurbjörnsdóttir who came west to Manitoba in 1906 and settled in Siglunes, Manitoba. Davíð grew up there and his interest in farming soon became apparent. He worked for his father and then took over his parents’ homestead land when his father died. He was involved in the community and was in the local government for many years. He was well-mannered and worked as a carpenter along with farming. He built quite a few houses, and the church in Vogar was a great achievement for him. In 1957 he moved west to the Pacific Ocean and lived the last few years in Vancouver.
