Sigfús Jónsson was born in N. Múlasýsla on March 12, 1843. He died on September 16, 1905.

They emigrated to New Iceland in 1876 and traveled north to Mikley. They moved to Winnipeg in 1881 and lived there until 1886 when they moved to the Isafold Settlement. They managed to farm there until 1901, when Lake Winnipeg flooded their land. From there they moved to the Víðir Settlement.
